Kristy J UV
Fall In Love with Sun Protection
With more than one million new cases of skin cancer each year, a brand new ladies swim and active wear line called Kristy J, prepares to aid women in the fight against skin cancer, by promoting prevention, and providing a new avenue to fashion savvy UV protected clothing. Joy Pfister, a wife and mother has always maintained a flair for fashion, design, and the arts, which helped catapult her into the spotlight as Mrs. Virginia in 2004. But in her daily life, and in her job as a Licensed Therapist, Joy, has been touched by many stories of the fight against skin cancer and survival. Two years ago, Joy's long time best friend was diagnosed with skin cancer and had surgeries to remove the melanomas. After learning about new age UV protective swimwear and fabrics, Joy searched for something fun and flattering to give to her best friend. Popularity of the UV fabrics has gained worldwide attention within the past few years as skin cancer worldwide grows at staggering rates. In fact, the American Melanoma Foundation recommends wearing UV protective clothing if possible while out in the sun. Desiring to make trendy UV wear possible for ladies, Joy began toying with the idea of designing a sophisticated, signature series of glamorous UV protective Swim and Active wear. Something she, herself, would love to wear, a nice outfit she could give to her best friend, and an innovative product she could get to other women. According to the American Melanoma Foundation, over the past 30 years, skin cancer for women has tripled, making it the most common of all cancers. While it is preventable, it remains the most highly diagnosed and one of the most curable if detected early. Kristy J has been brought to life through creativity, love and with the hopes of warding off a preventable disease. A portion of every sale of our Sunessence Sunscreen and Kristy J clothing is donated to the American Melanoma Foundation. "Skin Cancer is growing at alarming rates. Current statistics show that 1 in every 5 Americans will develop skin cancer at some point during their lifetime and that 5 or more sunburns doubles your risk of developing skin cancer. Melanoma is the second most common cancer in women ages 20-29 and one person dies almost every hour (every 65 minutes) from this terrible disease. Protecting your skin from harmful ultraviolet rays is a key factor in reducing your risk and sun protective clothing is a prudent part of a complete program of sun protection. I commend Kristy J for taking a step for women in the right direction, with fun and practical designs aimed at protecting the skin and for their support of The American Melanoma Foundation."
